The Log Out button allows you to log out of a GNOME session or switch to a different user account.

To add a Log Out button to a panel, right-click on any vacant space on the panel. Choose Add to Panel, then choose Log Out from the Add to Panel dialog. See Section 4.3.2 ― Adding an Object to a Panel for more on this.

To log out of your session or switch users, click on the Log Out button and then click on the appropriate button in the dialog that appears.
